IT IS official: We hate ourselves.

I say this because of some recent events which should have been proud moments for our country, but instead degenerated into shameful displays of slander, pettiniess and a nation divided.

Just think about this year's Miss Singapore Universe pageant and the World Table Tennis Championships.

Clearly, we do not want each other to succeed. I mean, why else would we start demeaning rumours about our own beauty queen, and scorn our paddlers for winning us a gold in Moscow?

It is strange, given how much we enjoy being first: First in line, first in class, first to eat.

But if history is anything to go by, we are also the first to bring each other down. I will call this the Singapore Slam - where we slam everyone and everything, especially those we call our own.

In this internet age, online forums, blogs and websites readily breed this culture of self-loathing.

They provide the fertile medium for virtual insults to be hurled with little thought.

After all, dissing someone else is only a click away. A friend of mine once remarked that five minutes of reading YouTube comments is more than enough to lose all hope for humanity.

I still hear the schoes of our past glories tainted with snide comments:

"Gawd, Fann Wong's English was can-not-make-it in Shanghai Knights"
"Please lah, Hady Mirza was just lucky to have won Asian Idol."
"I Not Stupid is really, erm, stupid"

And the self-depreciating list goes on.
Speaking of which, wher are our Singapore Idols? I saw Taufik's CD going for $2 at a music store.

Sure we love a good bargain, but i'd like to think our "Idol" deserves more than that.

Unless it is National Days, we do not hear many of our home-grown singers on our airwaves. Or wait - maybe we just do not want to.

It is no wonder so many of our talents have gone overseas to get famous. It is just so darn hard to impress the crowd here. If Stefanie Sun had based her career back home, I'm guessing she would have been drowned out by critics sooner than she could croon My Desired Happiness.

Instead of putting our icons and winners on a pedestal, we knock them down with the classic Singapore Slam. Of course, some of us have higer expectations, and there are always exceptions like the Merlion, which we have come to regard with affection.

But surely we do not need to be disparaging about everything. We pride ourselves on being a tight-knit country, yet aside from food, we are stingy with our praises, and appreciation for one another is disturbing scarce.

I do not know if this is misguided humility or some subconscious jealousy, but there is a dangeroud message we are sending to our young and eager ones:

"Don't get in the spotlight, nobody will support you"
Or:"Stay low, you're not good enough anyway."

If we keep doing this, let us not talk about a brain drain - nobody is even going to try. Then Singapore will really be nothing to shout about, and it is ultimately we who stand to lose the most.

So instead of jeering, how about cheering? Think of World Cup and Eurovision, where people frequently rally behinf their countrymen. I doubt any footballer or singer could make it without such support.

We also see it in our schools, where young athletes are driven to shine by their encouraging peers. It is amazing how a simple thumbs-up can make a differences.

So before you pass the next nasty comments, think about who you are really harming.

Philisopher Rene Descartes said: "It is easy to hate, and it is difficult to love."
I say it is about time to choose what is right over what is easy.

I guess it has been really long since i last blog'ed', like properly?

Counting the years, yes.. grace is a big girl now. officially turned 21 this year.
Graduated from my poly for more than a year? (which is really fast)

Shit.. the sad truth is that i haven achieved like 'anything' yet.
when i actually thought i could? well... those who knows what's happening; at least i tried okay. so no regrets for me. personally felt that it's a lesson well learnt :)

it happens to everyone, part and parcels of life i suppose.

I am so glad that time is an equal opportunity employer...
You know... like each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can't buy more hours, scientists can't invent new minutes and you can't save time to spend it on another day. So... time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you've wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow :)

so smile upon it! :D

As you know... i have been working for the past one year plus.
I realise that vey often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier. But... the way it actually works is the reverse. First you must be who your really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want. erm....... right?

Although i am not too sure of what i really really really want. yet.
Grace is a happy gappy girl. at least for now :)

So yeah.. i am currently working part time for a event at Resort World Sentosa!
Throughout the whole world cup from 11th june to 11th july; you will probably get to see me there on most days, as a 'soccer babe' *LAUGHs*

Thou i am always working, getting tired and all. But i felt like there is a BIG vacation for my brain. For i am like doing some brainless job now, as what mr. boyfriend implied; and i agreed.

I will probably give myself a short holiday until august? Then i will start to find some good jobs out there. Meanwhile.... i will probably go for some shoots and events to tide me thru? Easy money always seems to be a better option. But lacking of brain work makes me stupid. LOL~

So if anyone of you got Full-Time job lobangs, especially sales job, feel free to let me know.
You will be so surprised that i am actually quite a workoholic and probably perform better than you do. ooops! just kidding! (mayb not)

Yes yes, another big happy hoo haa news is that my beloved world class cousin michelle is now MARRIED! a very big congrats to her and her husband jim! and yes!! i am also her lovely bridemaids! *giggles*

My virgin bridemaid experience! lol~~
it was fun, interesting, exhilarating and also tiring.
From getting up earlier in the morning to prepare evil stuff for gate crash to changing dresses and tea ceremony, leaving for the hotels with all the correct stuff and rushing for solemizations and to dinner march in... woah.. not as easy k! :P

the crazy ladies trying mich gowns. muahahha...

glad that everything went through smoothly... only except the fact that i STEPPED on a BLOODY nail in their hotel guest room in MANDARIN ORCHARD.

ultimate swayness...... end up with rashes all over and a swollen foot.
i have already emailed the hotel guest care or smth and apparently they are not treating this matter seriously for they take like thousand of years to reply or follow up :(
customer service level? lousy.... (perhaps only to the person that attended to me?)

few days pior to mich cousie's wedding. it was a hen's night out at St James Power House.

Currently sitting in langkawi lagoon resort lobby using their FREE
internet connection. Got WIFI of course I use la.. Auto roam for data
damn expensive Lea.. Wuahahah...

It has been two fun filled days already!
From renting a car going around the island... Having seafood Zhi
char... Shopping... Walking around... Night market... Random food
stall... Drinking and playing games in the night... Fantastic
breakfast... Going to the beach... Banana boat! Jet ski! Etc etc...

Elmo jokes! Lol!

There is a factory in Northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me
Elmo toys.
The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms.
Well, Jessica is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports
for her first day promptly at 8:00 am.
The next day at 8:45 am there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's
door.
The Foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new
employee.
He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing
up, putting the entire production line behind schedule.
The Personnel Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2
men march down to the factory floor.
When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me
Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile
up.
At the end of the line stands Jessica surrounded by mountains of
Tickle Me Elmo's.
She has a roll of plush Red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles.
The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric,
wraps it around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little
package between Elmo's legs.
The Personnel Manager bursts into laughter.
After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and
approaches Jessica .
'I'm sorry,' he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face,
'but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you
yesterday...'
'Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles.'

Thursday
after work on Thursday i drop by starcomm again. heh....
went to find bb tan, was suppose to find jer and the rest for clash of the titans, but end up going over to geylang to eat dim sum. "wen dao shi" i think. hahahhaa...... had quite a early night on thursday.
oh yah, i APRIL FOOLED CHLOE OH HUI HUI! (in chris car) wahahhaa.... i claimed that there is a spider on her neck and she keeps beating her own neck! lol...... *evil*

Friday
hmmmMMmm... HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY! i would say good Friday in april is pretty memorable to me. oops!
went out for macdonald big breakfast at junction 8. hehe... been wanting to eat it but always miss the timing.
started walking around and hopping to buy some stuff. ahahahaa... check out clash of the titans time slot and is like damn "F" up. It's like noon time only and the queue is damn long with all the time slots turning RED (selling out fast), the only timeslot that is not red is like 11pm++ ones. OBVIOUSLY not gonna watch it. roar!
After bishan, we feel like getting a couples of DVD to watch at home. but sadly.... all the PLAY! Entertainment DVD rental machines are GONE from bishan and amk. BOOO!! lousy!!! Went to Delvin's fruit stall located at amk hawker first and brought 1 green apple yakult and 1 soursop stawberry. nice!!
then went over to amk central and i feel like doing some maintenance. so i started to check out face threading shops. went to this shop named "in beauty" or smth and got CLOSE by the sales person. buy 2package for face and eyebrows threading that cost me hundred plus. Buy like TONs of mask from watson. wuahahhahaha!!
went home and did a double mask, heard that masking your face after treading session is uber gd to ur skin :) ohhhh anyway, i kinda slack my way at home on Friday too. but i kind of enjoy it! hahaha...

Saturday
woke up early and went to balestier for lunch. wanted to eat famous bak kut teh but end up wating suki sushi. cheap sushi but not too bad la. it's only $25 compared to ard $50 at IchiBan Sushi for two :P
watched Clash of Titans around 1.30pm at balestier, cause confirm no crowd! ahahhahahaaa!!
oh yeah.. it's Connie 21st Birthday! :) so after slacking at home, went over his place... we set off straight to hers at ard 7plus pm. Jer Leen Kieth n Juan is already ther at 6pm. hohohoho......
all seated outside playing Iphones etc... luckily chris got blackberry with STARHUB TV! managed to catch the hoohaa soccer match tgt with kieth. muahhahaa...
the guys got abit bored thou... but me n leen didnt see shyan n cone for a long time.. so we are like running here n there gossipping this n that. hah! things got interesting when we started to write the guest book thingy. OURS is the MOST creative one. confirm! cause ours got thumb print. supper saddist! and suan suan name got a gay in front of it. wahahhaa.... (i wrote it, but i was instigated by shyan hor....=x)

after leaving connie house, went over to thomson prata house for supper.
then over to serangoon gardens for some drinks, seems like some mayflower gathering. lol...
saw hao kiat, tony, ivan, de wei and kiki ther.

it was a long night on Saturday. due to bb tan's car. His window kinda like go crazy and cant wind down. so we're stuck as we dunno if we should go over brian house to park or just park somewhere and wait till tomorrow morning. cause it's like 2-3am already. a very lousy timing to go wrong. tried many ways like parking in multi storey car park, going petrol station hoping to buy some car canvas to cover, going mustafa etc.... luckily i called up jeremy!! lols... he gave us this uncle Tan number that specialise in car window repair. and the fantastic part is... it's 24HOURS! Gosh!! lucky! :P so we drove our way to sembawang again, located to blk 476 multi storey car park. it's a one man show and he got all his equipment in his car boot. *WOW*
settle and fix everything only ard 5am plus. *phew* but chris became a happy boy after tt. lol..... repairing a window cost us $180/- ... ouch......

slp till ard 3pm plus. slack my way around watching tv, playing baby, eating lunch....

happy is simple :)

because i feel happy, i feel like typing it out in my blog. heh..
yeap, it's nothing spectacular... perhaps just another normal weekend to most ppl :P

my weekend was good!
visited ivan's new store "Meat Passion" at bukit permei blk 109 on both Friday and Saturday.
(more information on his menu, food pictures and stall pics will be up soon)
felt happy cause after all it's sorta like a dream come true for him, being able to own a store of his own and sell western food.

After work on friday....
Had drinks and dinner at mulligan clarke quay; the cannery celebrating han xiang's 26th bday.
you know, there is like live band there.... so it's pretty awesome how the guy actually cheer on his bday, singing live bday songs and asking him up to sing a song of "yellow". (and hey, it's available in m facebook. do check it out. haa~)
oh yah.. fyi, i kinda like live bands :)

After that went to Serangoon Gardens to find ivan and thomson for some drinks.
Teck jin, ah yap and another guy(which i find kind of familiar) came too.

On Saturday, had a long fulfilling sleep. haha!
the shiokness of being able to "Nua" on your bed and nothing else matters :)
played with Baby Thane for quite some time and help him "BURPppppp"
my mum showed me a new trick with bb thane. Tell him "UP" and give him ur hands, he will actually try his best to sit UP! cute right! hehehe... took a lorry of pictures with him. will up uploading soon too. cause right now im using my house desktop, not my own laptop. yea..

Went off to town with bb tan after that.
So..... it's retail therapy time *grins*
went shopping at forever21, brought like a whole chunk of accessories again.
bracelets, hairbands, headband hair clip blah blah blah.....
not to mention 3 pairs of legging, jackets, tons of moisturizers, new eyeliners.....

dinner at "meat passion" then we went off to serangoon then toa payoh for some business :)
had my favourite bubble tea "KOI" and favourite cookie "Famous Amos"
it was a early night on Saturday.

the happiest day would be Sunday, with his companion :)
was reading newspaper in my living room and he turn up just like that. heh...
seeing what he wears makes me "arm chio" like 2thousand times in my heart.
(bb, you dunnno right! spidey man rocks!)
caught some wink and went off to catch a movie at amk hub.
Had Ichiban sushi for dinner and it wad "F"ing good.
the queue was long and because of my persistent.....
i feel so satisfy after the dinner. *winkz*
(ohhh... maybe because im starving... or maybe not)
same thing, i got my FAVourite Charamushi..........

Walking around aimlessly and went off to do my pedi.
same old colour, it's dark red again.
while i made him wait for me in the arcade playing games.
was so happy when i play the basket ball machine.
still..... not too bad. people called it "Bao Dao Wei Lao" (The precious sword not old yet?)
hahaha.... so glad that my nails didnt break!
(SOBs.. one of my left hand index finger broke like last week?)

so we went off to watch "Pandora Box" by Ronald Cheng.
hmmm... humorous and silly with no plots.
good for a great laugh but please do not expect much for the story line :P
(it's kinda like scary movie in Chinese version)
and yes! i sneaked "KOI" milk tea inside to make me feel even happiER!

went home straight after movie as it's like 11plus already. saw dennis loh hanyu with gf at amk hub basement car park before leaving.

i realise that blogging makes people recall what exactly happened the last few days. and perhaps because of my lack of blogging.. i became..... hmmm... slower... i took longer to recall. LOL...

Grace's 2010 New Year Resolutions

1. Try to eat more healthy food and cut down on Junkies! (quite hard... im a junk food lover)

2. Proper self-grooming! which includes maintenance of hair, nails etc..

3. Pass my freaking car license. and get a car for work purposes? no?

4. Hopefully slim down and tone up.

5. Try to at least jog or swim once a week. (shoot me if im lazy)

6. Take good care of my face, have been neglecting it for quite long. xD

7. Get a organiser/planner/schedule book and follow it strictly.

8. Get a good head start with my career. working hard and be on time :)

9. Make time for my friends, regardless if it's gathering or normal outings.

10. Cut down on chilling out or at least with drinking. (someone complains that im a alcoholic)

11. Try to follow my parents to visit my grandparents once in a while instead of pak-toring all the time.

12. Clean and re-organise my room. try to keep it neat at all times. (hopefully)

13. Throw away things that i think "i might need it" which i dont 95% of the time.

14. Do not buy impulsively and have cognitive dissonance. (Buy if i think i will NEED, not want)

15. Be a nice and obedient girlfriend :)

16. Save some good amount of 5digit in my bank this year.

17. Go for a holiday or get-away at least once.

18. Appreciate more and complain less. Cut down on my temper part.

19. Have some uber fantastic 21st birthday party. (Help me with this pls)

20. Contribute more to the family, at least give my parents more $ if i can :)

oh well.. at least for now this is what i can think of.

wondering why peoples only set new year resolutions at the start of the year.

It's been a long while since i last blog....
Remembering those days where i used to blog about every one's birthday parties, gatherings, meet-ups or even movies i watched and places i went. i like to blog, in fact very much. Being able to blog is like being able to record those wonderful moments of my life just in case i forgot. It's sad to say, but human beings tends to forget as they age and the truth is we will all age as times goes by. So blogging enables me to look back, remembering things.... big events tiny details, happy moments sad moments.

So right now, i am trying to "hopefully" revive this small little space of mine :)

Grace Updates pertaining to "How's Life?" :)

Well..... Life is pretty good i guess. As far as i concern everything is pretty smooth. This include my family, my friends, my love life and my career. I am currently working in a media company doing advertising and marketing, recently really busy with re-locating my company to a new location. Lucky me, the office is located at pemimpin drive which is like 10-15mins walk from my house. Talking about advertising, if anyone of you (or friends/families) wanted to advertise somehow or somewhat, please drop me a mail as well.

I kind of feel more attached to home now because of Baby Thane's arrival. You know, it's like after a hard day work you get to go home and check out the baby, carry it, play with it etc...
Anyway just to clarify, i DID NOT gave birth to Baby Thane! *LAUGHS* Gosh... some of my friends thought i went MIA because i went to give birth!! This is really really hilarious, but also ridiculous and insane at the same time can! LOL~

Talking about my other old mascaras…..
I used to have difficulty in getting the lash effects that I really want.
I have naturally short lashes, so it hard for me to play with mascara!

Luckily I have ettusais!
The new applicators make wearing mazara so easy!

I always stain my eye lower area due to the big and chunky brushs that other masaras have, and I would have to buy a separate mascara that has a mini applicator just to cater for my lower lash needs! Smudging my mascara ruins my entire face makeup.

Sometimes I end up having to re-do my entire eye makeup ….If not… I’ve got to apply concealer over and over again which makes mymakeup look very heavy.

Anyway, grace has some tips to apply masacara to share!
(Hopes it helps~)

Ace your mascara application with a three-step process:

Step 1: Wiggle the wand left to right at the base of lashes. It's the mascara placed near the roots -- not the tips -- that gives the illusion of length.

Step 2: Pull the wand up and through lashes, wiggling as you go. The wiggling part is key: Wiggling separates lashes.

Step 3: In this final step (which I always skip =x), close the eye and place the mascara wand on top of lashes at the base and pull through to remove any clumps.

having dizzy spell is like common for me throughout last week.

just came home from a movie with chris at cineleisure :)

well, the hangover is not exactly fantastic. really humorous at times thou.

- Hi Cindy, i usually go office with light make up, apply ettusais basic 5 step daily plus using both zero pore pact and day time defense powder! tinted eye essence and makeup base is a must. more of skin care rather than makeup. however sweet marble cheek color is a must apply for makeup for me. to have that tint of blush. =)

Ah Lek was asked to make a sentence using 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9,10.
Not only did he do it 1 to 10, he did it again from 10 back to 1.
This is what he came up with.....

1 day I go 2 climb a 3 outside a house to peep.
But the couple saw me, so I panic and 4 down.
The man rushed out and wanted to 5 with me.
I ran until I fell 6 and threw up.
So I go into 7-eleven and grabbed some 8 to throw at him.
Then I took a 9 and try to stab at him.
10 God he run away.
10 I put the 9 back and pay for the 8 and left 7-eleven.
Next day I called my boss and told him I was 6.
He said 5 , tomorrow also no need to come back 4 work.
He also asked me to go climb a 3 and jump down!
I don't understand.
I am so nice 2 him but I don't know what he 1.

Guess what?! Due to the fact that i've been MIA for 395735222 years.

Just little updates of grace’s working life!

Currently doing well blah blah blah…
But of course there’s has been a price to pay for that.

I’ve been working really hard, and bringing work home has been the usual, so has entertaining customers’ calls at the weirdest times you can imagine.

At times I get soooo busy, I don’t even have time for lunch =\

As for my personal life. There has been less personal entertainment! Sacrifices have been made!

After a long day at work, usually you’d feel like going nowhere else but HOME! *no joke*

Grace’s Boring Daily Routine:

(Estimated time tends to change from day to day)

-Grace’s morning
6.30am - wake up and snooze my alarm for at least 15mins
6.55am - prepare clothes and go bathe
7.25am - do my skincare routine + makeup + dilly dally here and there
8.00am - pack my stuff and choose my shoes etc
8.15am - ready to go, go downstairs and flag for a cab
8.40am - reach office and go get coffee or bread etc
8.50am - all ready to start work!

9.00am onwards work work work….

-Grace’s noon
12-2pm – either out for appointment or out for lunch

-Grace’s evening
6.30pm - 7.30pm onwards finish work.
(Official end of work time is 6pm, but I usually don’t end on the dot or leave my work place earlier unless I have something on later in the day or such)
So after work I walk to the bus-stop and wait for my bus to amk interchange from ubi to change another bus back home.

By the time i am home…….

It’s probably around 9pm!!!!

AND…. If I dinner out, I would reach home even later. =\
(This is assuming I leave work at 7.30pm, which I do 50-60% of the time)
So after one whole day of hard work, I would usually head to my bathroom and take the longest time you can imagine to bathe! *heh*

9pm - 9.40pm = BATHING TIME!!

(Do understand that girls always take a slightly longer time to bath, =x)

It’s really hilarious when I learnt driving I hogged the road and when I take a bath, I hog the bathroom! *oops*

Speaking about bathroom hogging, i didn’t used to be a bathroom hogger until I changed my body wash! *Muahahahahha*

it's really amazing how can one person gets so busy, when lunch time becomes troublesome, leaving work on time becomes ridiculous and time always passes soooooo fast, it's gone even before you realise.

oh well, there are like major changes in grace life ever since she start working her current job. it's pretty impactful i would say, as she is usually very busy, and now.... it got worst. =/

she misses many many many things she can do when she's not working.

however, she is pretty much enjoying her work as well.

the contributing factor probably can be credited to her working environment. (putting the sales quota aside)

everyone knows that sales job means got quota to hit.

being quite a green horn in the company, working hard/smart is the key to sucess :)

so........

do give her some time to mature in her work.

and after she settle down, im sure she will come back to all of you!

awwwwww... grace really really loved to blog.

but due to time limitation, she will try her best to update when she got sufficient time to do so.

busy grace have been cabing to work everyday as she rather have more time spent slping than travelling. try waking up daily at around 6plus in the morning and reaching home only at about 8 or 9plus.

in addition, she is learning driving already and......... is doing good. heh..
